Therapeutic agent (verify pharmacological class)
Relief of intestinal gas; diarrhea; GI disturbances associated with indigestion. For prevention of non-specific pruritus associated with kidney dialysis treatment. Clinical selection for Charcoal [activated] should follow culture results where relevant, Kenya STG/EML recommendations, and the current product SmPC. Class context: Therapeutic agent (verify pharmacological class). Confirm site-specific dose, duration and monitoring before prescribing.
Adult: 1-2 tablets QID x 2-5 days. Children: 2-12 months: 2.5ml QID. Take 2 hours before meals or one hour after medications.
Adverse reactions vary by agent. Counsel on common predictable effects and serious warning symptoms (allergy, severe rash, jaundice, unusual bleeding, severe GI symptoms, neurological changes). Report suspected ADRs via national pharmacovigilance channels.
Store as labelled. Keep out of reach of children.
