Parkinsonism, drug-induced extrapyramidal symptoms. Clinical selection for Biperiden should follow culture results where relevant, Kenya STG/EML recommendations, and the current product SmPC. Class context: Therapeutic agent (verify pharmacological class). Confirm site-specific dose, duration and monitoring before prescribing.
0.5-1mg daily (max.6mg daily). Usually taken at bedtime.
Anti-muscarinic side effects: dry mouth, blurred vision, urinary retention, GI disturbances, nervousness, allergic reactions, drowsiness, psychiatric disorders, increased intraocular pressure, glaucoma.
Store as labelled. Keep out of reach of children.
